Application Process
How recruitment works.
PREP recruits at the start of each semester. We look for people with real interest in health research and the commitment to contribute to a team from start to finish.

Submit Your Application
Fill out the PREP interest form. We ask short questions about your research interests and academic background.

Review Period
The Recruitment Chair and executive team review applications based on interest, availability, and fit with current project needs.

Selection and Onboarding
Selected applicants get placed into project teams based on their interests and team capacity. Onboarding kicks off at the start of the semester.

Research Cycle Begins
You start working with your team: introductions, literature review protocols, and research question development guided by your Research Chair.

Team placement, literature review, research question development, methodology design.
Production
Manuscript writing, statistical or thematic analysis, poster development for conference submission.
Dissemination
Journal submission, conference preparation, publication pipeline advancement.
Member Expectations
What we expect from members.
- Active participation in semester-based research cycles (Fall, Spring)
- Commitment to assigned project deliverables at each phase
- Attendance at team meetings and organizational workshops
- Contribution to manuscript writing, literature review, or data synthesis
- Engagement in conference preparation and submission processes
- Maintenance of academic integrity across all research activities
Member Outcomes
What you gain.
Publication Credit
Members who contribute substantially to manuscripts may receive authorship or acknowledgment credit in peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.
Conference Presentation
PREP submits work to FURC and NCUR annually. Selected members present research posters or oral abstracts at state and national undergraduate conferences.
Research Training
Members receive hands-on training in systematic review methodology, academic writing, statistical literacy, and scholarly communication — skills not taught in most undergraduate curricula.
Mentored Scholarship
Each member is embedded in a structured team with a Research Chair providing academic direction and methodological oversight throughout the research cycle.
